Calvin PCA’s annual Christianity and Culture conference began in 2007 with a broad purpose to provide sound, Biblical instruction on how to think about, live in, and engage the culture around us as authentic Christians. The title for this year’s conference is, “Pagan America.”
Over the last several decades America has faced an unprecedented cultural revolution that has removed Christianity from the public foreground, and replaced it with ideals such as pluralism, relativism, spirituality, pantheism, and sexual freedom. At the heart of many of these ideals our society now holds dear is the ancient practice known as paganism. Our featured speaker Dr. Peter Jones, executive director of Christian Witness to a Pagan Planet, reminds us:
In one generation, America has helped lead western culture to abandon two millennia of Christian civilization, returning to the paganism of the Greco-Roman world. At the dawn of the Third Millennium, Christians need to rediscover their voices! If the original, truly revolutionary Gospel was powerful enough to turn the ancient pagan Empire upside down, it can do the same today.
